Heating and cooling service in Tucson.

Tucson summers are long, and cooling systems here run hard from spring into fall. We repair, maintain and replace residential and light commercial heating and cooling equipment across the city, and we explain what we find before any work begins.

The systems we see across Tucson

Tucson homes use a wide mix of equipment. Many flat-roof homes rely on a rooftop package unit that handles cooling and heating in one cabinet. Others have a split system, with an outdoor condenser or heat pump on a pad and a furnace or air handler in a closet, garage or attic. Some older homes still run an evaporative cooler alongside refrigerated air, and ductless mini-splits are common in additions, casitas and converted garages. We start every visit by identifying what you have and how it’s set up.

Heat, dust and the monsoon

Monsoon season runs from June 15 through September 30 and brings humidity, dust storms and lightning. Blowing dust loads filters and packs outdoor coils, which makes equipment work harder in the hottest part of the year. Higher humidity also makes evaporative coolers less effective. Storms can cause power interruptions and surges that damage capacitors, contactors and control boards.

If your system stops after a storm, check the breaker once. If it trips again, leave it off and call us.

Rooftop and flat-roof equipment

Package units and roof-mounted condensers sit in full sun. We check the cabinet, the curb and duct connections at the roof, condensate drainage, and the condition of the electrical and refrigerant components. Tell us about roof access, ladders or HOA rules before the visit so we arrive prepared.

Winter heating

Tucson winters are mild, but cold nights still put furnaces and heat pumps to work. A system that has sat idle since spring can have ignition, flame-sensing or defrost problems the first cold week. See heating and heat pump service.
